Why Crocus Bulbs Might Save Your Skin This Winter

Cashmere. Roaring fires. Thick woollen socks and hot chocolate. I love winter. But also... pink nose. Papery skin in the mornings. Wind blown hair. Why is it so much easier to feel glamourous in summer?

Now it is no coincidence that this is the time of year to plant crocus bulbs. Crocus bulbs are a gold mine for good stuff for your skin in very dry, hot or cold conditions. And our face cream is packed full of crocus bulb extract, because it one of those ingredients I just can't get enough of.

Here's why:

1. Firmer.

Moisturising in winter is a pleasure as well as a necessity. Moisturisers like our face cream, that contain crocus chrysanthus bulb extract, as well a whole bunch of other deep nourishing oils like jojoba and vitis vinifera seed, contain a magical extra. The crocus chrysanthus' creamy petals give us an extract which is clinically proven to enhance the structural network of skin, which is what gives your skin elasticity, firmness and cell density.

2. Softer.

Aside from repairing natural damage, Crocus chrysanthus also actively improves cell-cell communication. A lab based study showed that after two weeks using a crocus bulb mousturiser, collagen and elastin levels in skin were greatly increased. That means that this little flower boosts your skin's production of the stuff that makes it softer and plumper, undoing that cold wind harshness.

3. Younger.

Another lab study in Switzerland found that crocus bulb extract also increases cell growth and regeneration. A natural stimulant for morphogenesis (cell repair), the extra college proteins and cell growth were shown to greatly improve the appearance of stretch marks and decrease the imbalance of synthesis and degradation in skin cells that cause wrinkles!

So that is why this little flower bulb gets my winter employee of the month award. Our face cream is a joy to the touch, and the jar is very easy on the eye, but it's those premium active ingredients like crocus chrysanthus that make me feel like i can take whatever weather winter throws at me with a smile.
