The Perfect Cleanse To The Perfect Day

Sometimes even those of us living in Mediterranean Barcelona need w break. A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be whisked off to Formentera for a few days of imposed relaxation. Let’s not call it a dirty weekend. Let’s just call it a romantic getaway. If you don’t know Formentera, it’s the little secret island no Spanish people want you to know about, and which I’ll be telling you about with a handy little guide later this summer.

If like me, you’re a bit of a workaholic, generally need constant stimulus, and love the hustle and bustle of the city, then Formentera is a nightmare. Idyllic virgin beaches, sleepy little villages and the kind of unassuming shady seaside restaurants where lunch lasts for hours and consists of local fish and seafood and very cold wine. Alright, maybe not a total nightmare.

A few days like that your skin naturally looks great. A little sun here and there, some sea and a break from the city, plus one or two (relatively) late mornings, mean you have time to treat your skin right, enjoying some of the rituals that a busy life often don’t allow.

For me, this kind of break means being able to ramp up my cleansing routine, and really enhance my holiday skin.

After using sunscreen, or an SPF moisturiser, as well as occasionally makeup, the end of day cleanse is key to taking everything off. This is equally true of the dirt and grime accumulated simply by moving around a city all day.

A lot of people instinctively go for a cleanser that feels thorough and leaves their skin pleasingly taught and dry. Surely that means you really put it through the mill right? Wrong.

Any cleanser worth its salt will leave skin feeling plush and soft, as quality cleansers contain active natural ingredients which work hard while treating skin gently. Enter stage left our award-winning Facial Cleanser. A refreshing lightweight gel which emulsifies into a soft milk with warm water, it gently strips away the debris of the day while carefully balancing sebum production to leave skin more hydrated, not less. It soothes skin, so leaves no redness from sun damage, and removes the residues of sunscreen or makeup to leave pores unblocked and skin smoother and healthier.

After a day of sun, sea and seafood, I got back to my hotel room feeling like a million dollars. A few (too few…) days on the island had me inspired and relaxed. And the perfect end to a perfect day was that hot shower and pampering in the bathroom.

Feeling the bitter orange extract and Jojoba oils gently recondition my skin, as Palmarosa and Petitgrain went to work smoothing and balancing my skin tone and leaving my skin plusher and more supple, was the perfect way to take time out and appreciate the day’s events.

After a day of heavy sunscreen use, I mixed natural Exfoliating Powder into my cleanser for a deep clean treatment, and one evening before a rather special dinner, I convinced my partner to join me in a super hydrating face mask, by mixing some of our natural Balancing Face Oil with the cleanser and leaving a generous layer on our faces for ten minutes.

It’s times like these, when I feel really proud of our products. They’re designed to travel this way; to be shared, to be versatile, to enhance the experience through their natural properties and smart combinations. The scents imbued in our products mean that more than just being pragmatic, they become a sensorial part of any experience. For me, the scents and sensual joys of this gorgeous Balearic island were given even greater depth by the ritualistic time I spent at the end of each day, pampering my skin and feeling healthy and alive.
